In the aftermath of a disastrous 2013 season for McLaren, Ron Dennis has engineered his return to the helm as CEO with the mandate to return the Formula 1 operation to its winning ways. Reports in Italy indicate that the MP4-29, designed by Matt Morris, is behind schedule due to failing the mandatory FIA crash tests.

El MP4-29 de McLaren supera el 'crash test' de la FIA

La escudería McLaren-Mercedes ha confirmado que su nuevo monoplaza para la temporada 2014 ha superado el 'crash test' de la FIA por lo que tendrá listo el MP4-29 la próxima semana en los test de pretemporada que se celebrarán en el circuito de Jerez de la Frontera.

La semana pasada el monoplaza que pilotarán esta temporada Jenson Button y Kevin Magnussen no superó el test, aunque en McLaren no cundió el pánico y tan sólo unos días después el MP4-29 ha pasado el último trámite antes de poder salir al asfalto.

El 'crash test' de la FIA es una prueba obligatoria que deben superar los coches de todos las escuderías en la que someten a los monoplazas a una serie de test de resistencia de choque. De no haber superado la prueba, McLaren no podría haber estado presente en los primeros test de pretemporada que tendrán lugar los días 28, 29, 30 y 31 de enero en el trazado de Jerez.
